This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We designed UGotTea to collect only what it needs to work — and we never sell your personal information.

1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how UGotTea ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects information when you use our AI companion application and website (the "Service"). It applies to all users of the Service. By using UGotTea, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — such as your username and a securely hashed password. We do not store your password in readable form.
- Content you create — the messages you send, the characters and scenarios you build, and any images you upload. This is needed to provide the Service and show you your chats.
- Usage & device data — such as approximate activity times, the devices signed in to your account, app version, and basic technical logs used for security, rate-limiting and troubleshooting.
- Notification data — if you enable push notifications, a device token so we can deliver them.
- Support communications — information you send us when you contact support.
We do not ask for and do not need sensitive identifiers such as government IDs. Please do not share real-world sensitive personal information within chats.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, maintain and operate the Service, including delivering AI responses and saving your conversations;
- authenticate you, secure your account, and enforce device and usage limits;
- prevent abuse, fraud and activity that violates our Terms of Service;
- respond to your support requests; and
- understand and improve how the Service performs, using aggregated or de-identified data where practical.
4. AI processing of your messages
UGotTea generates responses using artificial-intelligence models. To produce a reply, the relevant parts of your conversation are sent to the AI model that powers the Service, which may be operated by us or by trusted third-party model providers acting on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
We instruct our providers to process this data only to generate responses for you and not to use your content to train their models where that option is available to us. Because responses are generated by AI, they may be inaccurate — see our Terms for the full disclaimer.
5. Cookies & local storage
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies — for example, a session cookie to keep you signed in and a token used to protect against cross-site request forgery. We may also store limited data locally on your device (such as a service worker cache) so the app loads quickly and works reliably. We do not use third-party advertising cookies within the Service.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited situations:
- Service providers — infrastructure, hosting, AI model processing and notification delivery partners who process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards;
- Legal reasons — where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or UGotTea; and
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you and any successor will be bound by this policy.
7. Data retention
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain data to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
8. Security
We take security seriously. Measures include hashed passwords, encrypted connections (HTTPS), optional two-step verification, session and device management, rate limiting, and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
9. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can manage many of these directly in the app (for example, updating your account or signing out devices), or contact us to exercise them.

10. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
11. International transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than the one in which you live. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with this policy and applicable law.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
